RECEPTION THEORY

 1. The preferred reading of a media text is what the producers wants the audience to believe and think of for their product to be successful. 2. The oppositional reading of a media text is when the consumer reject about the product and have the opposite beliefs about the product that the producer wants the audience to believe. 3. The trailer wants the audience to believe that all kids would do bad things such as violence. They also want the the audience to believe that teenage boys are more likely to be out with their friends or gang doing unfavourable things than to be at home spending time with their parents. 4. Young people might reject this reading and constructing oppositional reading to the trailer because kids doesn't usually copy things that they see on social media. Not all kids have the same attitude to things, they might also have reasons about other things that they don't want to share it to others that can sometimes lead to doing violence and other things as adult

AUDIENCE EFFECTS THEORY

 1. Passive - This is the view that audiences passively take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone. 2. Active - This is the modern and generally accepted view that audiences interact with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume.  3. Hypodermic Needle Theory - This is the suggestion that audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds . This assumes no individual difference in audience members. 4. Media product:  Information/surveillance: The Times newspaper >Why: It tells audiences important information about politics, the world and more. Personality Identity: Language >Why: The audience can sympathize with other people. Diversion/Entertainment: Action films >Why: The audience will be able to feel relaxed and would be able to get away from their problems as they forget about it while watching films.
