RECEPTION THEORY
1. The preferred reading of a media text is what the producers wants the audience to believe and think of for their product to be successful.
2. The oppositional reading of a media text is when the consumer reject about the product and have the opposite beliefs about the product that the producer wants the audience to believe.
3. The trailer wants the audience to believe that all kids would do bad things such as violence. They also want the the audience to believe that teenage boys are more likely to be out with their friends or gang doing unfavourable things than to be at home spending time with their parents.
4. Young people might reject this reading and constructing oppositional reading to the trailer because kids doesn't usually copy things that they see on social media. Not all kids have the same attitude to things, they might also have reasons about other things that they don't want to share it to others that can sometimes lead to doing violence and other things as adults have different view points than kids.
5. McDonald's advert (Preferred, Negotiated, Oppositional)
The preferred reading for the McDonald's advert is that their product tastes delicious; that it can ruin your diet and that it is worth it buying it. They also want to make the audience believe that people won't be able to resist their product as it looks appetizing, from the way the burger is shown on the advert it shows a lot of things inside that one meal that would make you full. The negotiated reading of this advert is that it is delicious but it is not healthy if we eat it everyday, especially for kids that loves eating McDonald's because there are toys. The oppositional reading of this advert is that the company doesn't want the audience to think that it's too much. This is because the burger looks like it is delicious, but what the audience wouldn't see is that it's gonna be hard for them to finish it up. The company also doesn't want the audience to think that it's unhealthy. This is because even though there is a green bits in the burger it still has a lot of oil in it.
