2) Now go to page 3 of the Media Pack - celebrity focus. What does the page say that Heat offers readers?
The page say that they make sure that their readers is updated about the gossips and talk about the celebrities's biggest secrets.

3) Now look at page 4 of the Heat Media Pack. What other content does Heat magazine offer its readers aside from celebrity news?
Heat magazine also offers the readers about fashion and lifestyle or life hacks.

Media language

1) How are the cover lines written to make the audience want to buy the magazine?
The cover lines are written in a sans serif font which connotes as friendly and less formal which can be the reason for the audience to buy the magazine.

2) What are the connotations of the Heat colour scheme on this particular front cover?
The colours on this front cover are: pink, yellow, and red which connotes as bright which makes it stand out, friendly and feminine.

3) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. paparazzi images or aspects of mise-en-scene such props, costume, make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)
  • Images are used to create interest in the magazine by using images that are paparazzi images which shows that the celebrities are also normal like any ordinary people.
  • The images shows how these celebrities are living their life and what they do when they are not in  their job.
  • The images also shows that they can also be different from their pictures as a celebrity.

4) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Heat? List at least three differences and explain the effect on audiences.
  • The Tatler magazine uses only one key image which can make the audience focus on only one image and analyse the message of it, while the Heat magazine uses a lot of images which makes the audience feel interested as there are more than one celebrity that the front cover is talking about.
  • The title of Tatler is in serif font which can make the audience think about it as formal and posh, while the title of Heat is in serif, however there's no capital letter which makes it look more friendly which can make the audience approach the magazine.
  • The design of Tatler is very elegant and talks about the Royal family and a high class which can make the audience think about being rich and posh, while the design of Heat magazine is very informal, friendly and lower class which can make the audience feel as if they relate on what's on the magazine.

Women are represented on the cover of Heat as only interested in fashion, gossips and relationships or drama.

4) How do Heat and Tatler represent social class? What different social classes can you find in the features and celebrities on the cover? (E.g. middle/upper class / working class)
Heat represents social class as a safe place where everyone can relate to each other. Tatler represents social class as a place where everyone wants to be part of a high class and try to be perfect like the Royal family.
