 1) What is independent cinema and how is it different to Hollywood blockbusters?

-Independent cinema is also called 'indie' film it is very different to Hollywood blockbusters. Independent films have much smaller budgets, and are often financially public service broadcasters, film institutions and charity funding. They are also distributed by smaller companies. It is different to Hollywood Blockbusters as the directors and producers have more creative input - it's being made in their vision, not in the vision of studious bosses.

I, Daniel Blake is about I, Daniel Blake having illness; he met a single mum, named Katie with her two young children. Katie have a problem where she only have one chance to escape a one room homeless hostel in London; to accept a flat in a far distance. I, Daniel Blake fights for his dignity and also for others who are struggling.

I, Daniel Blake is directed by ken Loach, it is important as Ken Loach never wanted Hollywood films, his style is where he wanted to tell stories that represent the lives of ordinary films and social issues.

I, Daniel Blake is promoted to an audience by:
  • Organise free (or 'pay what you can') screenings and talking and talks in community centres across the UK to build local enthusiasm for the film's message.
  • Film was premiered not in London, but Newcastle (where the film is set) to gain local support.
  • Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn attended to London premiere and people that had been denied benefit payments were asked to placard the event.

5) What unusual or creative marketing methods were used to get audiences talking about the film?
Ken Loach and the writer did interviews with newspaper and magazines to promote the key message of the film, which allowed the audience more interested and for the the audience to be exposed to impactful messages.

The estimated product budget for I, Daniel Blake is around £2 million and it made a critical success and award winner. The film grossed $11 million and received a wide range of positive critic reviews.

I, Daniel Blake can compete with Hollywood blockbusters like Black Widow by being able to let the audience relate to the film; make their films realistic as their films are very different to Hollywood blockbusters, their films are very creative.

The aspects of the film contributed to film's age rating are bad languages, frightening and intense scenes.

10) Finally, considering everything you have learned about I, Daniel Blake, do you think the film was a success? Explain your answer in a well developed paragraph.

In my opinion, I, Daniel Blake is a successful film as this film grossed $ll million. This film is also made for audiences to relate to the film which made the audience more interested in the film leading them to participate and tell others about how upstanding the film is. The film also impacted other peoples life about how living can be difficult. They used a lot of strategies to make sure that the the message is pointed out to the targeted audience. The film got into street displays and newspaper inclusions.

It was successful as when they saw it they were moved to tears which made them help Ken Loach to make the film superior as the film might have had a potential to be a famous film. Ken Loach worked with Trinity Mirror and they made 15 million pounds.
